The exam courses are designed for students who wish to improve their exam skills in either a business or general English context. We specialise in teaching the 'Business English Cambridge' (BEC) exam as well as the 'Test of English for International Communication' (TOEIC).
We also prepare students for the following general English exams: IELTS Academic and General Training exams, Cambridge B2 First C1 Advanced and the OET test for students who plan to work in the healthcare sector.
Business English Exams
BEC: (Business English Cambridge)
We offer both BEC Vantage (Upper Intermediate) and BEC Advanced classes to individuals. These exams are at a similar level to both Cambridge B2 First and C1 Advanced.
They are recognised world wide and are suitable for students who have recently finished B2 First or C1 Advanced general English exams and would like to concentrate on Business English before applying for their first job. Equally, it would suit those of you who are already working in companies and who need to improve their practical skills such as business writing skills or communication skills.
The TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication) is the world’s most widely-used test of workplace English. Recognised and trusted by many of the largest and most prestigious companies in Asia (China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand), Europe (France), and South America (Chile).
The test is comprised of 200 multiple choice questions divided between Listening and Reading and lasts 2 hours. This exam takes place every month so there is ample opportunity to do this test whenever it suits. See the "Links" page for further information.
General English Exams:
We offer both B2 First (FCE ) and C1 Advanced (CAE) classes to individuals and small groups both online or face to face. The B2 First exam focuses on level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – an upper intermediate level of English. The B2 First qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English.
The C1 advanced exam focuses on level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – the level required for academic and professional success. More than 8,000 educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world accept C1 Advanced as proof of high-level achievement in learning English.
The lessons focus on key grammar and vocabulary. You will practice important skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) as well as learning the exam strategies and techniques in order to ensure optimum exam performance. You will get plenty of mock practice tests and feedback on how to improve your writing skills.
The OET Test, unlike other general or academic English tests, has been developed specifically for 12 healthcare professions to test all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. OET works with healthcare experts to design the test to include real workplace tasks and medical vocabulary, so healthcare professionals can feel confident they’re selecting an English test that’s relevant to their global healthcare career. We have extensive experience teaching students preparing for a career in the nursing and pharmacy sectors in particular.
OET Test results are accepted as proof of English language skills worldwide, including in the UK, the USA, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and more.
The IELTS test has four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. A band score is awarded for each part of the test. Your language skills will be assessed on a scale ranging from 0 (non-user) to 9 (expert user). There is no such thing as a pass or a fail in IELTS.
There are two types of IELTS test: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.
IELTS Academic: This version is primarily intended for individuals who plan to pursue higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking academic setting. IELTS General Training: This version is suitable for individuals who are planning to migrate to an English-speaking country for work or training. It is also used as an exit test for Non-European students who are studying English in an English language school in Ireland for 8 months or more.
